The first organisation to form an association with The First Tee of Ireland (TFTI) in Limerick comprised of a group of 15 3rd Year students from St. Enda’s Community School back in March 2006.
The introduction to the school was facilitated by Breda Deedigan, Manager of St. Enda’s Sports & Leisure Complex who has been and remains a consistent supporter of The First Tee. For one student in that group, Luke McElligott, his association with The First Tee was to lead on to greater things.
Not ever having played golf before joining The First Tee in March 2006, Luke came through a qualifying process in Grange Castle Golf Club in early 2008 and was chosen as part of a team of 12 students nationwide to represent The First Tee of Ireland in the Barclays Cup Tri-Match held at the prestigious Brookline CC in Boston, USA. The match included TFT Metropolitan New York and TFT Massachusetts.
Luke was recognised for his achievement with a presentation of a framed team photo from the match at Brookline CC. Luke is also a junior member of Rathbane Golf Club.
